Following the inauguration of the main worship site of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, special attention is now being given to the city’s air connectivity. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced the inclusion of 8 more cities in this series, directly connecting them to Ayodhya.
According to the ministry, air services on 8 new routes from Ayodhya are set to begin, connecting cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Darbhanga, Mumbai, and Bengaluru directly to Ayodhya.
This new service is scheduled to start from February 1, 2024, and will be operated by SpiceJet. The flight routes include daily connections from Delhi to Ayodhya and back, Chennai to Ayodhya and back, Ahmedabad to Ayodhya and back, and Mumbai to Ayodhya and back. Additionally, flights from Jaipur to Ayodhya and back, Patna to Ayodhya and back, and Darbhanga to Ayodhya and back will operate on alternate days of the week. The Bengaluru to Ayodhya and back flights will run on specific days each week.
Prior to this, Air India Express had already initiated flight services from Gwalior to Ayodhya, Bengaluru, and Delhi. The airline has been operating daily flights for these cities.
With an increasing number of pilgrims and tourists visiting Ayodhya after the consecration of the deity Lord Ramlala, the government is actively working to enhance air connectivity from all major cities to Ayodhya. In late 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the Maharshi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya at a cost of 350 crores.
This initiative aims to boost spiritual tourism in Ayodhya and is expected to contribute to the city’s economic and social development by providing convenient air travel options for devotees and tourists.
